U.S. military is seeking to improve troop concentration with “electroconvulsive therapy”

The Pentagon has begun experiments into improving human concentration by passing electric current through its soldiers’ brains. Drone pilots in particular could benefit from the biotechnology, given “attentiveness and recognition can deteriorate in as little as 20 minutes.” Several dozen volunteers at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio have undergone the noninvasive brain stimulation. According to the researchers, the results show improved alertness and acuity. Long live coffee.
