U.S. drone strike takes place inside of “settled” Pakistan

On Thursday 2st November, a suspected U.S. drone struck a religious seminary that is allegedly linked to the Haqqani network, killing six people. What makes this strike fairly “out of the ordinary” is that it did not take place inside of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal areas, but inside of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.  The seminary is run by Qari Noor Ullah, a religious leader affiliated with the Haqqani group, and is home to many Afghan refugees. The network’s spiritual leader, Maulana Ahmad Jan, is believed to be among those killed.
