First 6 months of 2011 deadliest for Afghan civilians

A UN report found that the first six months of 2011 were the deadliest since the war began in 2001. 1,462 innocent civilians died between January and June, a 15 pecent increase over the same period the year before.

While most deaths are attributable to roadside bombs and anti-government forces such as the Taliban, there was an increase in the number dieing from Nato air strikes.
